We’re juice lovers—the kind who savor every drop. To us, it’s not really juice unless it’s raw, organic and handcrafted in small batches. Back in the 1970s, organic juice was rare and raw juice unheard of, so we made a pact: to produce juice in its highest form. One sip, and you’ll understand why.
1975: How we Began
These days, it’s a great time to be a juice lover.
Back in the early 1970s, we didn’t have it so easy. Organic juice was rare, and raw juice was unheard of. So, a group of juice lovers (you might call them hippies) got together and made a pact to produce juice in its highest form.
And that’s how Genesis Organic Juice Cooperative began producing juice, the way it was meant to be enjoyed: raw and organic. Today, we’re still owned and operated in Eugene, Oregon. We offer a full selection of raw and organic juices, smoothies, teas, and lemonades.
2006: Raw Juice Ban and Partnership with Toby's
After seeking out and hand-inspecting the highest quality organic fruit, we couldn’t fathom boiling away the vitamins, minerals, and flavor. In 2006, when government regulations banned raw juice, we didn’t seem to have many options but to close our doors.
Thankfully, Toby’s Family Foods extended a lifeline to Genesis, offering a way to maintain the integrity of the juice and save a like minded local food company from going out of business. Together, we were one of the first juice companies to offer high-pressure processed (HPP) juices, a safe way to preserve the juice without adding heat. The difference is obvious, a better looking, tasting and more nutritious juice.
Ever since we partnered up, we’ve been owned and operated under the same roof with the same vision to make food the way it should be: use the fewest possible ingredients, of the highest quality, sourced locally and processed minimally.
