Creating a new product label may seem like a minor change, but it's a major event for companies that rely on snap buying decisions by customers in stores.

Genesis Juice, the longtime organic juice maker in Eugene-Springfield, has begun introducing new labels for its line of bottled drinks.

The labels are designed to boost sales by making a better first impression on consumers, said Jonah Alves, president of Toby's Family Foods, which owns Genesis Juice.

Labels are "that fist level of interaction," with customers, he said. "If it doesn't speak to your customers, you are not going to get much past that.

The new labels include wording to better differentiate Genesis Juices, teas, and lemonades from products made by a growing list of competitors, Alves said.
